Miami/Madrid, July 14th 2010.  IESEBusinessSchool- member of the board of the Spain Florida Foundation 500 years- together with the foundation, will award a grant covering 50% of the enrolment fees of IESE’s Senior Executive Program for Latin America 2010.  The program will begin its third edition in Miami next October.

This collaborative partnership between both institutions will be made in the context of the V Centenary of the arrival of Spanish explorers to Florida and through this will try to reinforce the presence of Spain today in the US through Spanish companies and educational programs, emphasizing the Spain’s historical contribution in Florida and the USA.

Those professionals with ample experience who wish to present their candidature for the above mentioned scholarship, should send- before August 13, 2010 via email to aberenguer@spain-florida.org-a detailed essay about the following topic: “How to make the most of the V Centenary of Florida so that the Hispanic contribution to the history of the US is more recognized and valued?”  The work can be done either in English or Spanish and should be accompanied by the registration form and completed entirely.  The form can be downloaded at: http://www.iese.edu/AppNet/SEPLatAm/Apply/Index.aspx (Click DOWNLOAD APPLICATION FORM)

The selection of finalists will be determined by a jury made up of four members, two designated by IESEBusinessSchool and two by the Spain Florida Foundation 500 Years.  The list of finalists will be announced on September 1, 2010.  The selected candidates will be subject to subsequent evaluation by the IESE Selection Committee; the committee will make the final decision concerning the suitability of each candidate and will select the winner.  This news will be made public in September.

The IESE Senior Executive Program for Latin America is a program aimed at high level executives and managers at multinational companies who have ample international experience and a strong interest in Latin American markets.  Through the case method, this program will provide executives the necessary tools to adapt to the most current form of doing business that these emerging markets demand.  Moreover, the program encourages and develops the participants’ competencies and abilities, making them authentic leaders prepared to face the demands presented in this global and ever changing business world.  The course will be given by IESEBusinessSchool in Miami and at the new center that the business school has opened up in New York City.

IESE will strengthen its presence in the US through this partnership with the Foundation Spain Florida 500 years and, through its educational programs for senior management, will reinforce in the US, the presence and image of Spain and its largest companies

Spain Florida Foundation 500 Years

The Foundation Spain Florida 500 Years is a non-profit organization created in 2008, whose goal is to make known the importance of the Hispanic contribution to the history of the United States.  Its board of directors, in addition to IESEBusinessSchool, includes important Spanish companies such as Santander Bank, Mapfre, Telefónica USA, Sabadell Bank, Iberia, and Grupo Prisa, among others.

In 2009, the 450 year anniversary of the arrival of Tristán de Luna to Pensacola (the first European settlement in the US) was celebrated, in 2013 the 500 year anniversary of the arrival of Ponce de León to the Florida coasts will be commemorated, and in 2015, the 450 year anniversary of the foundation of Menéndez de Avilés of San Agustín, the oldest city in the USA, will be celebrated. With the purpose of taking advantage of the historical opportunity from the event commemorations linked to the foundation of Florida by Spanish explorers, the organization has begun a series of activities centered on education, the cultural dissemination and spread of knowledge thought books, seminaries, artistic expositions, and a multitude of educational programs in colleges and universities, and at the same time promoting the participation of the institutional and private sector in these events.

At the same time, the Foundation will strengthen its proposals with educational institutions that transmit to the Hispanic community the transcendence of being part of the fundamental birth and development of the United States in the context of the 500 year anniversary of the arrival of Ponce de León to the coasts of Florida.
